Gardens of Peace is a registered charitable trust. At 21.5 acres it is the largest Muslim Cemetery in the UK, with enough space for over 10,000 graves. Facilities include parking for 76 cars and provision for making wudhu and salaat.

As can be seen from the above pictures and those in the Photo Gallery the Cemetery is set in a peaceful environment and has been developed to a high standard.

The landscape architects used to design the Cemetery won the top Award in the internationally recognised Stonegard Phoenix Competition for their work. The Cemetery has also won a Special Award from the British Association of Landscape Industries for groundbreaking work in urban renewal.

Additionally in 2006 the Cemetery was recognised by London in Bloom for the quality of its landscaping.

Burials - Further Information

Legal formalities must be completed before a burial can take place (the Cemetery is not allowed to bury without a "Green Form" which is provided by the Registrar for Births & Deaths when a death is registered).

The Cemetery also requires a burial form to be filled in for its own records and to complete its legal obligations. This form can be downloaded here (it is a pdf file and you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader. Click on the following link to obtain if you do not already have this).

We have produced a guide on what to do after a death both from an Islamic point of view as well as dealing with the paperwork that must be completed so that burial can take place. We have also included in the guide details on how to contact the Registrar of Deaths during weekends and Public Holidays and have also provided details of Muslim Funeral Directors. The guide can be viewed by clicking here. Alternatively you can download a copy in pdf format.
